Sony Playstation 5: The Build Up to a Beast

Sony has been one of the most recognized companies among gaming enthusiasts in the country and by the looks of it, the company is moving on further in with respect to developments they are making in the field of technology. Now, apart from the other premium offering s by the company in terms of consumer products, something which stands out predominantly is Sony’s premium gaming console lineup, the Playstation. The first Playstation arrived way back in 1994 and it has been 17 years since then and the latest advancements of the world today have starkly been reflected in the games that were rolled out ever since.

Now, with the advent of technology like 4K and VR compatibility, the gaming industry has come a really long way and so has Sony. The last iteration of their console lineup, the Playstation 4 and its variants have garnered huge critical acclaim on account of its features and specifications also hailed as a huge milestone in the gaming industry. The Playstation 4 Pro offered 4K streaming and 4K up-scaling content along with a 4K interface but did not provide the perk of native gaming in the highest resolution format today.

Mark Cerny, the lead system architect for the PS4 was once quoted as saying "the development of a next-gen platform started about five years ago." The concepts began swirling around as early as 2008, which was just 2 years into the PS3 life cycle. Sony’s planning and feasibility analysis stage might have stretched on for a quite a bit of time after all, for the PS5.

The PS4 Pro sported an AMD Radeon graphics engine with 4.2 teraflops of speed. It consists of two quad-core Jaguar modules totaling 8 x86-64 cores provided by AMD as well. The upcoming Playstation 5 console is definitely slated to feature a definite ramp up in the graphics department owing to the 4K incorporation. Also, there have been reports which have stated that Sony will reportedly be tying up with AMD for an exclusive chipset designed for the Playstation 5 premium gaming console although further details regarding the same are non-existent.

Now the release date of the Playstation 5 is yet another thing which comes into play once the news of the development of the application kicks off. The gaming console is pegged to sport a 2018 or 2019 release date although the pattern which Sony follows normally does push it back to a possible 2022. . The first Playstation was launched in 1994, followed by the PS2 in 2000, the PS3 in 2006 and finally the PS4 in 2013. Judging by the year gaps, the tech giants have consistently maintained more or less a 6 year gap between the launch of the gaming consoles. Now considering the fact that Microsoft’s Xbox Two is expected to make an appearance in 2017 itself featuring True 4K gaming, it doesn’t seem a very high improbability should Sony decide to roll out the PS5 anytime sooner.
